Schubert: Impromptu Op 90, No 4

Square

THIS is one of eight impromptus, piano pieces composed by Schubert in 1827, a year before his death at the age of only 31. They are published in two sets of four each; this is the fourth in the first set, Op 90. The other is Op 142. They are all beautiful. Every time I hear Schubert I mourn for the genius cut so short.

This performance is by the Argentinian pianist Horacio Lavandera (b 1984).
