This was the group’s second single, and was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. It was recorded on April 19, 1962 (an earlier version recorded on February 8 was not released until 1970) and released on June 4. It reached No 14 in the US. It was released in the UK in October 1962 but did nothing.
Jan and Dean recorded the track for their 1963 album Jan and Dean Take Linda Surfin’. If it sounds similar to the Beach Boys, that’s because the Beach Boys provided the instrumental and vocal backing, though they were not credited.
