Cliff was my first love. I must have seen the film Summer Holiday, which features this song, a dozen times.
It was written by Buddy Kaye and Philip Springer, and recorded on 10 May 1962. It was released on November 30, 1962, ahead of the film premiere (January 10, 1963) and the soundtrack album (January 18, 1963), and reached No 1 in Britain. The Shadows are billed as the backing group but much more prominent are the Norrie Paramor Strings. I think it’s a great track.
