The Platters: Ebb Tide

Square

This was written in 1953 by Carl Sigman and Robert Maxwell. It was recorded in 1958 by Frank Sinatra with Nelson Riddle. Not really my taste but here it is:

The Platters recorded it in 1960 and took it to No 56 in the States. To my mind this is the best version.

In 1965 it was one of the last tracks the Righteous Brothers recorded with Phil Spector. It was the most successful version, reaching No 5 in America and No 48 in Britain.
