Alison Moyet: Weak in the Presence of Beauty

Square

This is from 1987, so years too late for my usual range, but I love the voice, and it’s a great tune.

It was written by Michael Ward and Rob Clarke and first recorded by their band Floy Joy. It was released in 1986 as the lead single from their album of the same name. It reached No 85 in the UK.

In 1987 it was released as a single by Alison Moyet and it got to No 6 in the UK. Sadly she later revealed that she disliked the song. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weak_in_the_Presence_of_Beauty_(song) What a shame.

  1. I didn’t much like ’80s music in the ’80s, but looking back, especially when watching re-runs of “Top Of The Pops” I can see that the decade had many good records; pop hadn’t completely died. Alison Moyet’s “Is This Love” is a favourite of mine.
