Chris Farlowe: Ride on Baby

Square

This was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and produced by Jagger. It was released in October 1966. Despite its pedigree it got to only No 31 in Britain and did not feature in the US, though I am not sure that it was released there.

The Rolling Stones did their own version (which in my opinion highlights Jagger’s inferior singing voice) for their album Flowers, released only in the States in 1967. The production is also inferior – why on earth did they use a harpsichord? Weird.

  1. Great stuff from one of the great soul voices of the sixties.

I think the time is ripe for Chris to re-work his number one hit as “Out Of Work” by Chris Furlough and the Thunderbirds.
