Peter and Gordon: A World Without Love

This was written by Paul McCartney at the age of 16 and attributed to Lennon-McCartney, as were all their songs written individually. It was released in 1964 by Peter Asher, the brother of his then girlfriend, Jane Asher, and Gordon Waller, performing as Peter and Gordon. It topped the charts on both side of the Atlantic.

Here is a clip of a demo that McCartney made.

Those with a taste for the bizarre will appreciate this version by the Supremes, also in 1964, on their album A Bit of Liverpool.

Equally weird is this 2008 reunion performance by Peter and Gordon.
