Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers: Why Do Fools Fall in Love?

Square

This was recorded by New York City-based group Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers in 1956. It reached No 6 in America and No 1 in Britain. Lymon was aged 14. It was written by group members Herman Santiago and Jimmy Merchant.

A version by the Diamonds was released soon after the Lymon one. It got to No 19 in the States. I don’t know why anyone would have chosen it over the original.
