I made the mistake of going to see the Hollies about 30 years ago, must have been around 1990, at the Lewisham Odeon I think. Allan Clarke had turned into a little old man with a grey ponytail. Although by my calculation he must have been no more than 50, when he did the vocals on Jennifer Eccles, about a schoolgirl, it was frankly creepy.

It was a pretty bad single when it was released in 1968. Written by Clarke and Graham Nash, who by that time was fed up with being in a pop group and wanted to do something a lot more important, it reached No 7 in Britain and No 40 in the US.
