Helen Shapiro was only 14 when she recorded this song, written by John Schroeder and Mike Hawker in 1961. It was her first No 1 hit (in Britain) and earned her a gold disc for selling a million copies.
As a bonus, here she is singing Teenager in Love in the 1962 film It’s Trad, Dad, in which she co-starred with Craig Douglas. She was 15 by then.
