Phil Phillips: Sea of Love

Square

Phil Phillips was Louisiana bellboy John Phillip Baptiste when he wrote this song with record producer George Khoury. It reached No 2 in America in 1959, and it was his only hit.

It didn’t make the charts in Britain because it was covered by Marty Wilde with a mad harpist. He got it to No 3.
