John Lennon/The Fourmost: I’m in Love

I think this is one of the best tracks John Lennon wrote. Here he is singing it on a demo tape in 1963 (this was on YouTube for a long time, then it mysteriously disappeared, and now it is back).

It was recorded in the same year by the Liverpool group The Fourmost, whose manager was Brian Epstein. It reached No 17 in the UK chart.

It was by far the best Fourmost number. Their other hits included Hello Little Girl, said to have been written by John Lennon in 1957, which got to No 9 in 1963 andA Little Loving (1964, No 6).

Rhythm guitarist/vocalist Mike Millward died of leukaemia in 1966 at the age of 23.
