This was written by Smokey Robinson and Ronald White of the Miracles and released by the Temptations in December 1964. It became their first American No 1 in 1965 and reached No 43 in the UK.
On re-release in 1992 it got to No 2 in Britain but did not chart in America.
The mighty Otis took it to another level on his brilliant 1965 album Otis Blue. As a single it reached No 11 in the UK, but I am not sure if it was released as a single in the States.
