Jolie Holland: Roll My Blues

This is from the former Be Good Tanyas singer’s 2003 debut solo album Catalpa, which was recorded in a friend’s living room and is a charming effort, with few of the mannerisms which would appear in her later work. Early copies were distributed by hand and then by mail order when the word spread. I am lucky to have a signed CD from that time before a major label picked it up.
