Reader Stephen Richards jogged my memory about Neuwirth, who died in May this year aged 82. Bob Dylan played this song live several times but here Neuwirth, who wrote it, sings it with Ronee Blakley on 1975’s Rolling Thunder Revue. The music starts about the 1.20 mark.
