This was written by Jerry Lordan, who also wrote the Shadows’ first No 1 Apache (1960). It was released in February 1962 and went to No 1 in Britain. It was not released in America.
It was the last Shadows single featuring drummer Tony Meehan. By the time of the record’s release, he had left the group and been replaced by Brian Bennett, who I am pretty sure is the drummer in this mimed video. The other group members are Bruce Welch (rhythm guitar), Jet Harris (bass guitar), who left a couple of months after Wonderful Land was released, and Hank Marvin.
