Jimi Hendrix: Purple Haze

Hendrix wrote this track which was released in Britain by the Jimi Hendrix Experience on March 17, 1967. It reached No 3. It was released in America on June 19, 1967, and reached number 65.

In 2004 it was ranked 17 on Rolling Stone’s ‘500 Greatest Songs of All Time’.

Here is the performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival.

Here it is live at the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4, 1970, a couple of months before Hendrix’s death on September 18 at the age of 27.
