I can’t say I was a particular Donovan fan, but this one is OK. It was his first single, which he wrote. It was released in 1965 and reached No 4 in the UK and No 23 in the United States.
Donovan’s 1960’s singles were great, and he is one of those 1960s rockers whose sparse and simple songs lend themselves to interesting cover versions. This is one, “Hey Gyp” by Keith Shields:
