This was written by Ellie Greenwich and Tony Powers, and first recorded by the Exciters in 1963 as a follow-up to Tell Him. It reached No 57 in America.
Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders changed the gender and recorded on an EP, headlined by The Game of Love, in 1965.
This is said to be a live performance in 1965 – it is odd because there are no leads to the guitars, suggesting that they were miming (and certainly Wayne Fontana looks as if he is miming pretty badly) yet it is not the same as the record.
Eric Stewart on guitar!
Aside from “Pamela Pamela” this is my favourite by Wayne Fontana:

A Jackie Edwards cover.
