Neil Sedaka: Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen

I’ve never quite forgiven Neil Sedaka for this cruel deception – when I woke on my 16^th birthday I was as plain as I was the day before – but it’s a good pop song. He wrote it with Howard Greenfield (the pair also wrote Sedaka’s Oh! Carol and Greenfield on his own wrote Breaking Up is Hard to Do for Sedaka) and in 1961 took it to No 6 in America and 3 in Britain.
